Dandy Barrett has been a Savannah resident for more than a decade, having retired there from her last corporate position as head of investor relations for CarMax, Inc. Dandy was born into a military family in Florida, and she moved with her family every two to three years growing up, including spending first grade in Narsarssuak, Greenland, and part of her middle and high school years in Nagoya, Japan, and Naha, Okinawa.
Her working career included stints in government (local and federal), on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant to a New York congressman, and various corporate communications positions for a health maintenance organization, three Fortune 500 companies, and the entertainment industry. Currently she spends her time as an actress with and managing director of The Collective Face Theatre Ensemble, as well as being active in the political world. She has two sons, who with their families, live in the Northeast. She is grandmother to five.
